Greetings, delegates!

Hi, my name is Jackson Kim, a sophomore from SMIC. It is my great honor to serve you as the deputy president chair for the Economic and Social Council at SUZMUN XIV. This SUZMUN will mark my 12th conference over the last five years.

I will be focusing on the issue of "Developing international mechanisms to regulate illicit gold mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo" for this conference. Illicit mining undermines multiple states' sovereignty, fuels armed conflict, and perpetuates severe human rights abuses: effective regulation is urgent and essential.
Remember that MUN is a space to debate, to collaborate, and to learn. Every idea has the power to make an impact.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Looking forward to a fruitful debate! See you in April!

President

Hey everyone! My name is Melonie and I am currently a sophomore at SHSID. I have started my MUN journey in seventh grade, and this year’s SUZMUN will be my 14th conference, including both delegating and chairing experiences.

My main topic of focus will be topic 1, developing measures to protect the rights of workers in the gig economy of North America. These workers’ rights are shaped by a patchwork of federal, state, and provincial laws, with the core distinction between employee and independent contractor determining access to protections like minimum wage, benefits, and workers’ compensation.

Finally, I would like to say that instead of being overly power-hungry, this conference is more about collaboration and growth. I hope all of the delegates can come here well prepared, regardless of your level of experience. Please do contact me if there are any concerns!

Fun fact: I like security council (usually in the format of a hybrid committee) the most!

Deputy President
Ryan Hansen

Hey delegates!
My name is Ryan and I am currently a junior at SCLS, and it is with pleasure that I get to be Deputy Pres for ECOSOC for SUZMUN this year. I’ve been doing MUN since 8th grade and participated in 15+ conferences in that time.

I will be focusing on the topic of “Enhancing international cooperation for sustainable post-disaster economic recovery in Turkey and Syria”. The continuous environmental, economic and political turmoil in the region over the past decade has created an area of great instability, and it requires a nuanced perspective to adequately address. I am looking forward to seeing how delegates will properly tackle this issue from all sides and allow for proper relief for those affected.

I’m open to any and all questions, so feel free to reach out if you have any. Looking forward to seeing you in April!
