Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and guests,

I am Leya Zheng, a sophomore at Shanghai French School (LFS), and it is my greatest honor to serve as your Deputy President for UNCSW at SUZMUN XIV. Over the past few years, MUN has helped me develop a deeper understanding of global issues, human rights, and diplomacy. It has provided a platform to engage with real-life world challenges, advocate for change, and embrace diverse perspectives while stepping into the shoes of delegates from countries all around the world.

Aligned with this year’s theme, our debates in UNCSW represent the pursuit of progress in the face of resistance. I will be specializing in the topic “Measures to protect women in India against heightened risks of physical and sexual violence”, which challenges us to confront societal and institutional barriers that continue to endanger women’s safety. I look forward to fostering debate, hearing your perspectives, and encouraging bold actions as we address this vital issue together. I hope that we can create an empowering and memorable committee experience all together!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at: [email protected]

Greetings, delegates!

My name is Ethan Zhu, a junior at the Shanghai SMIC Private School, and it is my honor to serve as your President Chair of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. SUZMUN XIV will mark the 15th MUN conference of my high school career, my 7th conference as a student officer, and my 4th as a President.

For this iteration of SUZMUN, my topic of focus will be addressing commercial sexual exploitation of women in Bangladesh. Within the committee room, I personally value progress with a resolution. This means more amendments, speedy POIs, and quality speeches that actually make a change in the committee.

Lastly, as someone with he/him pronouns in the Commission on the Status of Women, please let me know if I exhibit signs of mansplaining during committee! Although I’m not your average performative male with matcha in one hand and feminist literature in the other, I am open to criticism. Letting female voices be heard is an essential fundamental to this committee.

I look forward to meeting everyone. See you all in April!

Deputy President
Elina Bae

Greetings delegates! My name is Elina Bae, and I am a Year 10 student at Dulwich College Suzhou. This will be my 8th Model United Nations conference, my 3rd time attending SUZMUN, and my 2nd time chairing. It is my esteemed honor to serve as your Deputy President for SUZMUN XIV’s UNCSW committee. MUN has been an important part of my academic journey, allowing me to engage in meaningful debate and explore global issues through diplomacy.
I look forward to seeing thoughtful discussion, well-researched perspectives, and creative solutions from our committee’s delegates.

The topic I will be focusing on is Topic 3: Protecting the rights of women and girls under Taliban rule in Afghanistan. This remains a pressing human rights issue, as women and girls face severe restrictions on education, employment, and freedom of movement.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. See you all in April!
