Stephanie Ahn (NIS)Deputy PresidentGreetings Delegates,
I am Stephanie, a sophomore at Nanjing International School. I am more than honoured to serve as a deputy president of this committee. This will be my fifth MUN conference and third time serving as a chair. During this conference, we will address the pressing issue of declining food security in sub-Saharan African countries, seeking innovative solutions to ensure access to sufficient and nutritious food for all. Throughout this conference, I wish to provide you with the best learning experience and memories possible. New delegates, don’t worry; I will guide you through and give you all my support. I enjoy making new friends at conferences, so please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to seeing everyone soon! |
Salma Wangui Gichana (BISS PX)PresidentI’m Salma. I’m 17 years old and in year 12 at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi. I come from Kenya, but I've lived in China almost all my life. Attending international schools has allowed me to broaden my perspectives and enjoy experiences, including giving me the opportunity to join MUN. I started MUN in year 7 and have participated in over ten conferences since, with experience as both a delegate and a chair. MUN has not only brought me many meaningful relationships and experiences, but it has also allowed me to tackle serious current issues in the world such as the first topic of this year's SUZMUN conference, preventing the continuation of illegal wildlife in Kenya. The issue of poaching wildlife is prevalent in East Africa, and is a major cause of the endangerment of thousands of animals. As an animal lover, and a Kenyan, I find protecting and preserving wildlife in Kenya crucial as the wellbeing and interdependence of these animals is dependent on finding a solution. This year’s topics are current and pressing issues for this and I find them so important, I can't wait to hear everyone’s thoughts and proposals.
I look forward to this conference and hope to hear and learn from everyone’s unique perspectives! |
Michael Mushinski (SAS PX)Deputy PresidentHey Environmental Committee Delegates!
Hi, my name is Michael and I’m a sophomore at Shanghai American School Puxi. This is my second year participating in Model United Nations and I love the proactive intellectual and problem-solving role it allows me to assume in facing major world issues of diplomacy, geopolitics, and environmental affairs. I feel very privileged to be able to serve as the Deputy President at this year’s SUZMUN. This will be my 4th MUN conference, my 2nd SUZMUN experience, and my first time chairing. During this conference, one of the topics we will be going over is the issue of promoting accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low carbon and climate resilient development to developing countries. Access to sustainable renewable energy technology is a privilege which all nations, regardless of economic status and development, deserve to enjoy. In a turbulent world of rapid climate change and urgent environmental issues, we must not leave developing countries behind to bear the brunt of the climate crisis. With such a significant subject at hand, I look forward to a productive conference with strong ideas, engaging discourse, fruitful discussion, and great memories. See you all in May! |
